Karen Clayton

Karen was appointed Macmillan Lung/Palliative Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in 2010. Prior to this, she predominantly worked within the acute sector.

Training at Stepping Hill hospital and Manchester University, she transitioned to Macclesfield District General.

Karen attained her Masters of Arts in Advanced Nursing Practice from John Moores University in 2012, becoming a Non-Medical Prescriber in 2013. In June 2018, she was honoured to receive the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother award for Outstanding Nursing Service from the Queen’s Nursing Institute.

Karen has been a member of the National Lung Cancer Forum for Nurses (NLCFN) and presented at the annual conference. Karen has led workshops and presented at the World Conference on Lung Cancer in Denver, 2016. Her current role is Lead Lung CNS at East Cheshire, leading a team who support patients from pre-diagnosis to end-of-life, in primary and secondary care.
